  • What to consider when artificially raising lambs

    • Sep 18, 2020

Introducing: Gro Mega Gro Mega is a Grober Nutrit Introducing: Gro Mega
Gro Mega is a Grober Nutrition developed, proprietary encapsulated form of tributyrin for use in milk replacer. A tributyrin molecule is simply a glycerol backbone, with 3 butyric fatty acids joined to it.

A naturally occurring source of butyric acid is butter, and other sources used in animal nutrition include butyric acid salts. These products quickly disassociate in solution (i.e. the animal’s stomach), and enter the bloodstream without potentially making it to the desired action site lower in the gut.

By encapsulating tributyrin, pungent odour is eliminated compared to other butyrate products, and we are able to deliver butyric acid molecules to the cells of the lower gut. This means, adding Gro Mega to calf milk replacer formulas can improve gut development, integrity and feed efficiency.

How do you feed your milk replacer? 🍼 Whether How do you feed your milk replacer? 🍼

Whether you feed by bottle, pail, mob feeder or auto feeder, the most important thing is consistency! All species thrive on consistency, especially when it comes to their daily meals. No matter how you feed it, make sure your milk replacer is weighed, and mixed at the right temperature!
⚖️Using a scoop to measure the amount of powder is not an accurate measurement and can lead to variations in feeding amount.
🌡️Mixing at too hot of a temperature can result in important components of the fat formulation losing functionality, and mixing at too cold of a temperature will reduce solubility, and interfere with proper emulsion of fats and oils, which may reduce milk replacer digestibility.
So, no matter how you deliver the milk, make sure you are using a scale and thermometer to mix! 🐮🐑🐐🐷
