Are you currently lambing or kidding? Let's review the basics of colostrum!
If the lamb or kid is orphaned, or mom has too many to feed, the standard recommended protocol is as follows:
1. Feed LambGro KidGro Colostrum replacer at 15% of bodyweight as quickly after birth as possible
2. Give 3 feedings within the first 18 hours of life
3. More feedings are better if orphaned (4 feedings is best)

For lambs or kids that do not want to suckle, a tube feeder can and should be used to ensure adequate delivery of colostrum in a timely manner. Our LambGro KidGro Colostrum is available in a 700g pouch or 4.9 kg pail. Make sure you're stocked up before lambing or kidding to set your animals up for success, right from the start.

FAQ: Can I feed KidGro to lambs? Or LambGro to kid

FAQ: Can I feed KidGro to lambs? Or LambGro to kid goats? The short answer is, no!
Sheep in general are highly susceptible to copper toxicity due to their unique ability to store copper in the liver. Excessive copper (copper toxicity) can lead to liver damage, hemolysis (rupture of blood cells), jaundice, and even death. Feeding KidGro to lambs is not recommended as the levels of copper are 10-20x that of the LambGro formulation, and therefore could lead to copper toxicity.

Similarly, LambGro should not be fed to kid goats (unless feeding a copper supplement in addition) as the kids need more copper in their diet to meet mineral requirements. Feeding LambGro to kids may result in a copper deficiency leading to anemia, poor growth, and impaired immune function. It can also lead to bone fragility, disorders, abnormal formation or cause cardiovascular issues, poor and rough hair growth, swayback, and poor reproductive performance.

Note: there is no added copper in our LambGro KidGro Colostrum which is why it is a product marketed to both species.
