Let's talk ingredients! Do you know what's in yo Let's talk ingredients!

Do you know what's in your bag of milk replacer? Here at Grober we are always keeping an eye out for the latest research in young animal health and nutrition. It's important to make sure animals are getting all the protein, energy, probiotics and other nutrients they need, #RightFromTheStart.

As you may know, we have our Grober Young Animal Development Centre (GYADC) at the farm show grounds in Woodstock. Each summer we conduct multiple research trials at this facility to test out new ingredients, feeding methods and feeding plans. Then, we review the data collected and determine if a new ingredient is worth adding to our milk replacers or if there are new recommendations we can offer to producers.

Most recently to come from the GYADC is #GroMega. If you missed our announcement a few weeks ago, we are now adding Gro Mega to some of our calf milk replacers and you can find out more about it on our website!

Curious about other ingredients we add to our milk replacers like our Protein Encapsulated Fat (PEF), Pro-Gro or A+? Check out our new Specialty Ingredients webpage. Link in bio!

Anyone ready for Spring?? What's the weather been Anyone ready for Spring?? What's the weather been like where you are this week? 🌫️ 🌡️ ❄️

The seasons are starting to change and temperatures are all over the place, from freezing to above zero and freezing again - this weather is not ideal for raising young animals ❌

It's important to pay close attention to your calves during seasonal changes to make sure the fluctuations in temperature and moisture aren't taking a toll on them. Some key things to focus on during seasonal changes include, optimal nutrition, the importance of access to clean water, clean and dry resting area, calf observation for health, and ventilation.

To learn more, check out our #GroFact - 'Seasonality & optimal calf care' - link in bio.

Introducing: Gro Mega Gro Mega is a Grober Nutrit Introducing: Gro Mega
Gro Mega is a Grober Nutrition developed, proprietary encapsulated form of tributyrin for use in milk replacer. A tributyrin molecule is simply a glycerol backbone, with 3 butyric fatty acids joined to it.

A naturally occurring source of butyric acid is butter, and other sources used in animal nutrition include butyric acid salts. These products quickly disassociate in solution (i.e. the animal’s stomach), and enter the bloodstream without potentially making it to the desired action site lower in the gut.

By encapsulating tributyrin, pungent odour is eliminated compared to other butyrate products, and we are able to deliver butyric acid molecules to the cells of the lower gut. This means, adding Gro Mega to calf milk replacer formulas can improve gut development, integrity and feed efficiency.
