Automatic feeding machines:

This product has been designed for use in automatic milk feeding machines.  Mixing temperatures should be set between 104-107°F.  Calibration is recommended regularly and especially when switching to a different product lot.  Grober recommends calibrating powder to 150-170g/L.

Excel recommended feeding program

v      A scale provides the best precision for weighing milk replacer powder.

v      Free choice water should be offered at all times.

v      High quality colostrum or colostrum replacer should be fed to all newborn calves, 3-4 quarts within 6 hours for optimal defence against environmental pathogens.

v      Clean and rinse ALL feeding utensils and equipment after each feeding: rinse in lukewarm water, wash with a detergent in hot (180°F) water, rinse with clean water (ideally a weak, 5-10%, bleach solution) and dry thoroughly with a clean towel.

v      During extreme conditions (cold or wind), offer an extra feeding of milk replacer per day.

v      A good quality starter ration is an essential component to a calf nutrition program necessary for rumen development and transition from a milk diet.  Offer fresh amounts each day with free choice water; when calves are consuming 2-3lbs/day for several days this can be used as an indicator that they are ready to wean.

Large Batch (5 gallon):

Weigh 7.5 lbs in 3-4 gallons in 120°F water, mix to dissolve powder.  Add remaining water to bring final solution to 5 gallons.  Feed at calf body temperature (102-106°F).

Individual calf:

Powder/feed Quarts/ feed Feeds/day
Week 1 12 oz(340 g) 2 3
Week 2-6 18 oz(510 g) 3 2
Week 7-8 18 oz(510 g) 3 1

The feeding schedule should be adjusted based on the size and health status of the individual calf.

High quality all milk product designed for easy digestion in the young calf from birth onwards.  This product can be used for the first 2 weeks until a calf’s digestive enzymes begin to mature.  Products containing alternative proteins (Grober Equalizer and Grober VG) may be introduced after this period.
